Emerging Issues Report – Education Systems for Girls’ Education in the Indo-Pacific Region

The report authored by Learn More analyses existing literature and quantitative data from official statistics of 10+ countries of the Indo-Pacific region (China, Japan, Singapore, Fiji, Indonesia, Malaysia, Maldives, the Philippines, Thailand, Vietnam, Bangladesh, Bhutan, India, Nepal, Sri Lanka, Cambodia, Lao, Myanmar, Papua New Guinea and Timor-Leste) and draws conclusions on socio-economical determinants of girls’ educational outcomes and their different gender impact. Learn More used the RISE framework to analyze influencing factors in the educational context and political economy systems determining outcomes across all levels of educational systems. The final report features a tool for comparison of results among different categories of countries. This report will inform the development of a FCDO programme to foster girls’ inclusion in the education systems of the Indo-Pacific region, indicating priorities for the allocation of resources.
