Study on Assessments of Teaching Quality in GPE Partner Countries

Assessing the quality of classroom instruction is increasingly a priority in low- to middle-income learning systems. Learn More and Triple Line were tasked by the Global Partnership for Education (GPE) to conduct a study on the use of classroom observation tools to assess teaching quality from 2017 to 2021 at the pre-primary, primary, and secondary levels of education, in 76 GPE partner countries. Data was used to establish the baseline for quality teaching indicator of GPE’s results framework: “Proportion of countries where teaching quality is assessed”. The study will inform the work of researchers, policymakers, and practitioners working on this issue in diverse learning systems by providing a comparative analysis of quality teaching assessment.
