In October 2022, Save the Children Italy asked Learn More to conduct a set of webinars named “Didattica senza Confini” (Teaching without Borders) which aimed at developing Italian teachers’ skills to support Ukrainian refugee students new to the Italian education system. During the first webinar, teachers learned the basics of the Ukrainian education system thanks to the support of Ukrainian teachers from EdCamp Ukraine, a professional development community for Ukrainian educators. In the second webinar, teachers explored inclusive language and practices in the classroom.
Participating teachers, school heads, and charity volunteers engaged in productive discussions on systemic issues affecting their ability to support refugees and identified solutions such as involving cultural mediators in curriculum planning.
This work reinforced our belief in the transformative impact of facilitated collaboration among practitioners with diverse backgrounds.
